Season  3 of Downtown Abbey just concluded in the States leaving viewers with several heartwarming moments and several heartbreaking moments. To pass the time, I have a quiz.

Leave your answers in the comments. I'll put the right answers in a hat and pull out a winner on the 20th of March. I'm giving away a print copy of "The Hungarian" or "The Count's Lair" – winner's choice.

Enjoy the Quiz!

#1 – Who said: "Nothing succeeds like excess?"

#2 – Which daughter got jilted at the altar?

#3 – Who worked as a nurse during World War I?

#4 – Who is Lady Cora's personal maid?

#5 – Which servant recently bought a toaster?

#6 – Who took courses to become a secretary?

#7 Where do Daisy and Mrs. Patmore work?

Question for you: Who is your favorite character upstairs?  Downstairs?  Why?

  1. I love Downton Abbey, but am not sure of the answers because I can't remember a couple of names. I'll try: 1, Maggie Smith, 2. the middle daughter, 3. the one who died 4. the troublemaker 5. the housekeeper 6. don't remember 7. kitchen

My favorite characters are Annie, Lady Mary, Mr. Bates, and many of the other staff. I also love the Irish guy who is trying to fit in and act as estate manager. I suspect his will be the greatest character arc of the series.

    1. I like Anna, too but I'm not sold on Mr. Bates. I guess I want a "hunk" for Anna. LOL!! There are so many characters I enjoy - Mary, Violet, Cora, and even Edith is growing on me. Downstairs, I really like Mrs. Hughes and Daisy is a hoot.

  2. My favorite character is Anna. She is always nice, and fights for what she believes in. And she and Mr. Bates are so cute together. :-)

    1. Lynn, I agree - Anna is always nice and that's what I really enjoy about her characters. She's an "everyday" kinda woman and that's the appeal, I think.
