Save the Date: 11 JUN - A Lady Never Lies is available! #steampunk

A Lady Never Lies will be available for purchase on your Kindle and other reading devices on 11 JUN 2014! It's book 3 in The Windsor Diaries, my steampunk romance series.

BLURB:
Jocelyn Dunkirk is not your typical Victorian lady. She dresses in leather, wears goggles, and is not afraid to get a little grease under her fingernails. Gentlemen avoid her like a dirty rivet.
Richard Windsor, the Prince of Wales, travels through time to claim Jocelyn's heart, but if it isn't one challenge, it's another. He determines to be a constant, steady presence in her life, hoping to prove he'd make a worthy husband.
Jocelyn's facing a bucket full of problems. The prime minister wants her to assist in ending a coal strike before it cripples the nation while her father attempts to recover from a serious injury. Will Jocelyn's dedication to her country and family ruin the one chance she has at love?

ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:

She swatted her hand next to her head like she was swatting a fly. Love could flitter away from her heart like a hummingbird for all she cared. Who needed it? Love hurt.
A knock rapped on the door, but before she could voice a reply, Richard walked in. He crossed the room, raw concern splayed over his face and he knelt before her. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"You look annoyed."
"A lady never cusses," she replied.
His lips tipped in amusement. "What else does a lady never do?"
"They never wear the same dress twice."
He pulled up a chair and sat in front of her. "I believe that."
"And a lady never lies," she said.
He slid his hand over hers and laced their fingers together. A sweet jolt pulsed up her arm and she smiled despite herself.
"So what's bothering you?" he asked.
She sighed and glanced toward the window, her heart at war. To his credit, he remained quiet, waiting for her.
Jocelyn appreciated his patience and his quiet support in this moment. She needed to talk to someone and Richard had always been a good listener. She recalled the previous occasions with him in Lincoln, just talking and it infused her soul with a confidence and hope she hadn't felt in days. She turned to face Richard and drew in a breath.
"My father's lawyer is traveling to Nottingham. He's probably already there. He's supposed to find my cousin, a man I had no idea existed, named Augustus Darling to advise him he's the heir to my father's title and ancestral estates."
"What? How can that be?" Surprise resonated in his voice.

Goddess Fish Super Book Blast: Almost a Bride by Sarah Mayberry #blogtour #goddessfish

BLURB:

Tara Buck has always been the good sister, level-headed by comparison to Scarlett, her flaky, impulsive twin. But when Tara learns her fiancĂ© has been cheating on her with one of his school students, the orderly world she’s created for herself suddenly feels as if it’s falling apart. For years she chose the safe option, but from now on she’s going to live a little, stretch her wings…be a little daring. And if that means acting on the long-suppressed feelings she’s always had for Reid Dalton, then so be it!

Reid has wanted Tara from the moment he met her, but she’s always been out of bounds. Not only is she his patrol partner at the Bozeman PD, she’s also engaged. But then her relationship blows up, and Reid finds himself battling his own instinct to stake his claim with the finest, hottest woman he’s ever known.

Even if anything did happen between them, it would only ever be temporary - Reid’s a born wanderer, while Tara’s roots run deep in Marietta. So even if things are good between them, it seems their romance is destined to be short and sweet...

Tara’s twin sister, Scarlett, also has a Spring Brides story: look out for Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey. Details from montanabornbooks.com

ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:

Reid Dalton pumped gas into his GMC pickup, one ear tuned to the conversation going on between his friends inside the truck. Grant was giving Brett a hard time for missing an easy layup during the basketball game they’d just finished, and Brett was serving it straight back at him with both barrels.

Reid grinned to himself, feeling pleasantly tired after an hour of charging up and down the court, trouncing the Bozeman Fire Department team. The informal competition between the police department and the firefighters had become a regular thing over the past few months. Reid wasn’t sure which part of their weekly matchups he enjoyed the most—the rapid-fire pace of the game itself, or the inevitable shit giving and taking that occurred afterward.

“You want to know my opinion?” he asked as the pump clicked off, signaling the tank was full.

“Not particularly,” Brett said, which earned him a guffaw from Grant.

“You both need to lift your games. Drink less beer, run a few more miles,” Reid said.

Grant made a rude noise, while Brett gave him a one-fingered salute. Reid was still laughing as he headed into the gas station to pay the cashier.

Then he saw the couple exiting the motel next door to the Gas-And-Go Mart and his step faltered.

The girl he didn’t recognize, but she was young and blonde and clinging to her man as though her very life depended on it. Reid watched as Simon Garfield said something before kissing her in a way that left no doubt whatsoever as to the nature of their relationship.

            Damn.

            Just... damn.

            Tara would be devastated.

For a moment he was frozen as he absorbed all the implications of what he’d just witnessed. Tara had been planning the wedding for the past few months and as her patrol partner, there was precious little Reid wasn’t privy to. Like the fact that Tara and Simon planned on having the reception at Le Petit Chateau in Bozeman, and that Tara was limiting her attendants to just her twin, Scarlett, and that today she had an appointment at Marietta’s one and only bridal salon to pick out her wedding dress...

Belatedly he glanced back at the car, hoping the other guys hadn’t seen, but they were both frowning, staring out the windshield at the sordid little drama unfolding in the parking lot next door. There wasn’t a doubt in Reid’s mind that they recognized Tara’s fiancĂ©. They’d all attended the engagement party Tara and Simon held back in February.

            Reid mouthed a four-letter word.

            What a nightmare.

BLURB for The Hungarian:

Katherine Archibald is in search of a grand adventure. A young woman in late Victorian England, she wants to open up a book store in London and travel Europe hunting down rare books. Love isn't on her map.
Enter Matthias Duma. The Hungarian count captures Katherine's attention like no other man before him with his unusual gold-malachite eyes, his exotic features, and his command of the night sky.
After a night of intrigue during Katherine's birthday, she discovers the map does include love in the legend, but will the map lead her to Budapest and the dark, brooding Hungarian she's just met?
EXCERPT
The door squeaked open and Katherine peeked over the top of her book. A tall, muscular man walked in wearing a white button-down shirt and holding his blazer. He paused, as if surprised to find her, and then walked toward the window, his stride easy. He moved with wolf-like prowess, his long legs taking cool, calculated steps as his unusual eyes surveyed her. Katherine bit the inside of her lip, returning his measured perusal with one of her own. His silence was unnerving, yet intriguing.
His eyes drew her to him -- malachite green with a gold ring around the iris. Dynamic. Expressive. Even now, as he looked at her, they softened and grew translucent. He stopped in front of the window and casually threw his blazer onto a nearby chair as if he owned the room.
"Hello," he said.
"Hello."
"You're staring."
"I am? I thought you were staring at me."
He chuckled. "Perhaps I was admiring you."
"Me?"
"Who else is here?"
Katherine pursed her lips as her insides warmed from the deep silkiness of his voice. He smiled and walked to her chair, slowly gliding around it, tracing his finger over the leather headrest, skirting her curly hair.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"And who is inquiring?" She tried to sound cool and composed, but she had to fight the nervous temptation to play with her hands.
"Romeo, perhaps?"
"Then my name is Juliet."
A teasing smile graced his lips as he walked out from behind her chair and glanced at a bookshelf before turning to look at her again.
"Would you fall for Tristan?"
"Only if my name were Isolde."
He walked over to a wooden table near the window and ran his long finger over a clay mock-up of Excalibur lodged in a stone. "What do you think of Arthur? Do you think it suits me?"
"Only Guinevere would believe your name was Arthur."
He crossed his arms, his eyes sparkling in the sunlight. "Would you believe my name was Matthias?"
"I might, if--"
"If what?"
"If I knew more about you."

Happy Birthday Oreo!

Milk's Favorite Cookie just turned 100! It's hard to believe that Oreo has been around for that long. Since March 1912, Oreo has gone worldwide with multiple flavors.

How did Oreo get it's name? Well, it's been so long ago, no one really knows for sure. In French, "Or" means gold and in Greek "Oreo" means beautiful. Or... "RE" from cream was sandwiched between 2 "O's" to make Oreo.

Oreo got its start on March 6, 1912 in Chelsea, NY. The National Biscut Company (NaBisCo) formed in 1898. At the time in 1912, Nabisco was best known for the Barnum's Animcal Cookies. Their novelity design consisting of a cage attached to a string so they could hang on Christmas trees made them a big hit.

Oreo's are sold worldwide. In America, the Nabisco factory is in Richard, Virginia. In Europe, Oreos are made in Spain. Oreos for the Asian markets are produced in Indonesia, India, and China.

Some Quickie Oreo facts:

The top 5 Oreo eating countries are: US, Canada, Indonesia, Venezuela, and China.

Oreo's hit the store in Poland and Croatia in Feb 2011!

In Argentia, a popular flavor contains cookies with a banana filling.

In Canada, Oreos are made with coconut oil giving them a different flavor.

In 2011, Oreos were a 2 billion dollar business.

Double Stuffed Oreo hit the stores in 1974.

In 2004, the recipe was reformulated to make them trans fat free.

In 1912, when Oreos were 1st coming off the oven racks, Woodrow Wilson was President of the US, the Titanic sank, the Girl Scouts were founded and Boston's Fenway Park opened.

GIVEAWAY:
As a Birthday offering for Oreos, tell me what your favorite flavor is. Leave your name and your email contact number. I'll pick a winner randomly to receive a copy of my contemporary romantic suspense novella, The Faberge Secret.
