Untangle My Heart - Virtual Super Book Blast from Goddess Fish Promotions #superbookblast

BLURB FOR UNTANGLE MY HEART by Maria K. Alexander:

When her marriage ended in tragedy, Kate DiFrancesco rebuilt her life, but has never gotten over the pain of what she lost. Seeking the help of an ex-lover ignites feelings she’s promised never to have again. She’ll need to untangle herself from dangers in her past in order to break the hard shell around her heart.

Edward Weston has a lot to prove, both to his stuffy upper-crust British family, and to  himself. Working alongside Kate, a woman he had a casual relationship with, stirs unexpected feelings. Helping her family makes him realize what he's missing. For the first time, he wants more than a one-night stand.

When Kate is threatened, Edward must overcome feeling unworthy to protect the woman he loves and fight for the family he never thought he’d have.

ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:

“Good morning,” he said. “Ready to go?”

“I’m all set.” She swung her laptop bag over one shoulder and grabbed the handle of her suitcase with her opposite hand.

“I’ll take that,” Edward said, reaching for the suitcase.

“I have it,” she snapped and held firmly onto the handle. His old-fashioned ways sometimes annoyed her and today was one of those days. Why was he always trying to be nice to her? It would be easier to maintain her distance if he wasn’t so damned considerate. Damned British manners. “I don’t need your help.”

He raised an eyebrow at her outburst but let go of his hold on the suitcase. “Fine. I see someone didn’t get her coffee this morning.”

“Wrong. I had two cups.” And a restless night of sleep with alternating dreams of Edward and Lucas. Frustrated from tossing and turning all night, she’d gotten up at four and started baking.

“I made biscotti if you’d like some.” She handed him a white bakery bag, hoping her offering of food would compensate for her irritable mood.

He opened the bag and pulled one out. “Are they safe to eat or did you use arsenic instead of sugar?”

Rather than dignify him with an answer, she leaned forward and took a bite. It was still warm and the chocolate chips melted in her mouth. Edward’s gaze studied her mouth as she chewed and for a minute Kate thought he may take a nibble out of her.

“Perfectly safe. I swear,” she said after swallowing.

He popped the other half in his mouth. “Not bad.”

“Not bad, my ass,” Kate said.

“That’s pretty fine, too.”

With a graceful tug, the woman withdrew her sword and turned her attention toward Ivánstan.

He glanced at the third wyldebeast who lay on the ground, its body twitching, near death.

"You're fearless." She sheathed her sword.

"You're amazing." Admiration laced his voice.

Not many would face danger with such courage. After all, Tapin was known for its mysticism and magic while Daháka was known for being forthright and its gifted swordsmen.

Can you find love in the Zodiac?

Can one find love in the stars? I thought I'd draw some inspiration from the zodiac. Let's take a look at the stars and see if it really does influence us.

Our zodiac signs tells us a lot about ourselves, including those we care for/love. You can always find a trace of the zodiac's influence on love. One thing to remember is that our sign tells us of our major traits, and how those influence our love lives. (if you believe. WINK, WINK) —Keep in mind if one sign is more assertive than the other, a calmer sign might provide balance to the assertive sign.

The signs of the zodiac and their romantic traits:

Ares – is a quick-witted, assertive love sign.
Taurus – tend to be calm and controlled in love.
Gemini – are intelligent and witty in love. Don't bore them.

Cancer – exhibit a wide arrange of emotions, but appeal to their sense of home and you've got them in your back pocket.
Leo – make a them the center of attention and you're in.

Virgo – they're composed and don't look for the limelight.
Libras – they're rational in love.
Scorpios – they possess eyes that can pierce your soul.

Capricorn – tend to be shy but respect traditions.
Sagittarius – they're fun loving and optimistic.
Aquarius – they're very friendly.

Pisces – they enjoy going with the flow.

Every zodiac has good and bad traits. What makes a good match is the ability of the signs to balance and compliment each other.

Do you know your sign? Do you know who makes a good zodiac mate for you? Write in and share!

PS - What's the zodiac sign depicted in this post.  Post the answer.  I'll draw a name out of the hat to win a $5.00 Starbucks Gift Card.

Book Review Friday - Lady Almina and Downton Abbey

Book Review for: Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey
Written by: The Countess of Carnarvon
Broadway Paperbacks
ISBN: 978-0-7704-3562-2
3.5 Stars

The current Countess of Carnarvon pens an engrossing story about Almina, the 5th Countess of Carnarvon set against the backdrop of the early 20th Century.

Almina married the 5th Earl of Carnarvon in 1895, a young 19-year-old. She was the daughter of Alfred de Rotheschild, a product of an affair. Alfred doted on his child.

Almina lived during a dynamic time when change and innovation happened rapidly. Candles were replaced with electricity. She was kind and caring, but what makes Almina such a charismatic character is her ability to change with the times. One of her greatest achievements is the establishment of hospitals and procedures of well care that enable soldiers to recover from World War I.

The cast of characters around Almina are also adaptable to chance and supportive of each other. Her husband shares the distinction of discovering King Tutankhamun's tomb with Howard Carter.

The author's writing style piques the reader's interest by telling personal stories of those involved in Highclere Castle. The Castle also doubles as the Castle seen in Downton Abbey. The current Countess of Carnarvon brings history alive with her tales of Almina, the 5th Earl, their children, the Earl's brother, Aubrey, and their servants.

If Downtown Abbey has drawn your interest, then the story of Lady Almina proves a nice, historical compliment to the series. "Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey," is a heartwarming read, as vivid as Downton Abbey, the series inspired by Highclere.
