Snippet Sunday - Feast of Candles, 99 cent contemporary romance

Hi all, I'm participating in the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday. This month, I'll be taking snippets from my 99 cent "spicy" contemporary romance, "Feast of Candles."

Feast of Candles
Contemporary Romance
99 cents

BLURB: Drake is going to take the biggest risk of his life all on a bottle of wine. Can he break the barriers around Lily's heart?

This snippet: Drake confesses to Lily the genesis for his attraction.

*****

"The passion you have for wine making is evident in your product."

Her left eyebrow rose a fraction. "Did you have a bottle before last night?"

"Last weekend at my family Advent wreath ceremony. My brother, Christian, focuses his efforts on promotion and marketing. He had recently returned from visiting New York and shared a bottle of your wine that he acquired."

A thoughtful, serious look grew over her expression. "He liked my wine?"

  2. He can either get her or not. I wonder how this passage finishes. Sometimes a woman just needs to feel appreciated for what she puts her heart into.

  3. I like how he isn't a complete distraction to her---a heroine needs outside interests! :D

    1. Sarah,
Lily is a wine maker at heart. I agree though - heroines (and heroes) need outside interests to round them off as people.

  4. I love the last line! He's trying to hit on her and she wants to know what he thought of her wine. :)

  5. Why is she surprised that Christian liked her wine? Either she doesn't have much faith in her product or Christian was a bit of an ass? Anyway, the snippet drew me right in!

    1. Veronica, thanks for stopping by. Character building can be a bit nerve wracking, but I think it really paid off in this story.

  8. Sounds like her brother has some klout in the wine world. So is he interested in her, the business connection, or both?

  9. Steph,

Your set-up immediately makes me love Drake. He's a romantic who followed his, um, palate!

    1. Maggie, I chuckle. Drake is a big "foodie," but you'd never really guess... He'd give Guy Fieri from Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives a run for his money. hehe
