Snippet Sunday: 99 cent Christmas Romance: Feast of Candles #snippetsunday

Hi all, I'm participating in the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday. This month, I'll be taking snippets from my Christmas romance, Feast of Candles. You can find the Weekend Warriors Snippet Sunday list at:

This snippet:      Lily and Drake talk about Christmas.

*****
"Growing up, we always had apple pie on Christmas Eve."

Drake walked forward, stopping before her. White string lights sparkled on the tree, sending soft shadows over his cheeks. The doormen were escorting guests to their cars.

"What makes me believe it's Christmas is light." His voice was low and purposefully seductive, and his nearness made her senses spin.

"Light? I don't understand."

****

**This snippet was modified a bit to fit the 8 sentence requirement.

"Feast of Candles" is a spicy contemporary Christmas romance. Drake de Brettville travels all the way from Denmark to San Franscisco to meet Lily Marquand, a wine maker. Will romance blossom, despite their different worlds?

  1. Interesting, I'm intrigued and can't wait to find out what "light" means.

  2. I didn't get her remark about Christmas being light, but I'm curious to find out more just as he is. Nice hook at the end!

  4. I agree with her, I don't understand, isn't there too many verbs in the "It's Christmas is light" sentence?

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one that had to read this line ("What makes me believe it's Christmas is light.") a couple of times to sort it out.

I love the description here, though: White string lights sparkled on the tree, sending soft shadows over his cheeks. The doormen were escorting guests to their cars.

  7. Actually I love his comment about light making the holidays. I adore all the colored lights at this time of the year an even if that was't what your character has in mind, I'm still happy. Great snippet!

  9. Christmas is definitely about light. And lights. And something tells me her head is spinning and feels light after that seductive swooning : )
