She hesitated, how could she explain it herself? "I'm not sure, but I have to get it back."
"Aren't you a woman of mystery," he replied.
"Well, you have to help me get it back."
He grew serious. "Of course I will. I didn't expect Sir John to take it. I'll get it back for
you as soon as possible."

Long & Short Reviews, 4 Books, Larkspur: It’s the perfect romance if you love the proper etiquette of the Victorian era mixed with the fantasy of time travel. This is the first in this new series and I’m excited to read the next episode."
Scorching Hot Reviews: 4 Stars:
Overall, a fun and breezy read that really doesn’t take itself seriously. With sweet and funny characters, the tale was enjoyable and engaging. A fantastic edition to the steam-punk genre....bring on book two :)
Hope Chest Reviews: 4.5 Stars:
Victorian Scoundrel was a nice easy read, but sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered. The pacing was pretty snappy with the plot moving right along, while the dialog was sharp and sometimes witty.

"He grew serious." An 8 sentence limit prohibits it here, but a description of how he grew serious would be a nice touch. Maybe describe how his facial expression changed along with his posture? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm thoroughly curious about the necklace myself now! Just a note, my editor wouldn't let me use the word "it" so many times in one short snippet LOL. But I certainly was able to follow their thoughts. An intriguing 8!
ReplyDeleteNice interaction between the two.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with the number of "it"s. That's how people talk -- you've made the conversation feel natural and unstitled.
ReplyDeleteI adore time travel romance, and your hero seems bent on helping the time traveling heroine. I can't wait to see what was so important about that necklace.
ReplyDeleteSounds intriguing!
ReplyDeleteSo it must be something important that can change history. I always worry when someone says "as soon as possible" as possible can be forever! Very intriguing story idea.
ReplyDeleteHistory Sleuth's Milk Carton Murders
Sounds like an interesting bit of it...and sounds like trying to get it back will be fun.
ReplyDeleteVery good... I'm interested to know what's gone missing...
ReplyDeleteThank you all for popping in and reading the excerpt. I appreciate all your comments and feedback. I hope I piqued your interest as to what's gone missing and "it's" importance. More next Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteSmiles to all
